Tea-Party Movement Gathers Strength.......

By PETER WALLSTEN And DANNY YADRON

The tea party has emerged as a potent force in American politics and a center of gravity within the Republican Party, with a large majority of Republicans showing an affinity for the movement that has repeatedly bucked the GOP leadership this year, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll has found.
The tea-party movement has emerged as a potent force in American politics and the center of gravity within the GOP, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll finds. Jerry Seib discusses. Also, with higher car fuel-efficiency standards coming soon, Joe White discusses why we all might be driving Fiestas.
.In the survey, 71% of Republicans described themselves as tea-party supporters, saying they had a favorable image of the movement or hoped tea- party candidates would do well in the Nov. 2 elections.
Already, the tea-party movement has helped to oust a number of incumbents and candidates backed by party leaders in this year's GOP primaries amid complaints that they lacked commitment to small-government principles. The poll findings suggest that the rising influence of the movement, with its push to cut spending and oppose the Democratic agenda, will drive the GOP to become more conservative and less willing to seek common ground on policy.

Obliterating a generation

Obliterating a generation

By Dick Morris - 09/28/10 06:57 PM ET
Thanks to the leadership of President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid, the Democratic Party is facing the biggest defeat in midterm elections in the past 110 years, perhaps surpassing the modern record of a 74-seat gain set in 1922. They will also lose control of the Senate.
Republicans are now leading in 54 Democratic House districts. In 19 more, the incumbent congressman is under 50 percent and his GOP challenger is within five points. That makes 73 seats where victory is within easy grasp for the Republican Party. The only reason the list is not longer is that there are 160 Democratic House districts that were considered so strongly blue that there is no recent polling available.

Obama Care Update

Dear Friends,

We are in the middle of the summary judgment phase of the health care case in the district court in Richmond, and I wanted to give you an update of where we stand at the moment and what's coming next.

On August 2nd the judge in our case rejected all four of the feds' arguments for why Virginia's case should be dismissed, and that as part of his ruling, the judge noted how extraordinarily far the federal government is reaching (in a constitutional sense) in the federal health care law.
On September 3rd, both Virginia and the federal government filed their motions for summary judgment. As the name implies, these motions are requests by each side to the court to rule "summarily," i.e., without a trial, in their favor. On September 23 both sides filed their opposition to the other parties' motion for summary judgment.

Government Needs to Be Cleaned Out

Hailed by David Brooks for seizing "the crucial theme of the moment," lawyer and author Philip K. Howard proposes five ways to liberate America, streamline government, and revive our can-do spirit.
Government is broken. It spends money we don’t have, takes no responsibility for the future, and suffocates daily freedoms under a thickening blanket of unnecessary bureaucracy and litigation.

Let's ensure in '12 that Obama see's the White House in his rear-view mirror the same as his buddy did in '80.

Quote of the Day

Former General Electric CEO Jack Welch told CNBC yesterday that the Obama administration has an "anti-business" bias which manifests itself through intimidation, trade, taxes and regulation.

Bent

"Bent," is how I would describe very intelligent people though with serious flaws.  Lenin, Marx, well even Hitler could have been considered genius though severely ''bent."  Not to say Paul Krugman is the same likes as the previous mentioned men though he is very intelligent though I believe "bent."

Waste of intelligence.......

When facing a tsunami, what do you do? Pray, and tell yourself stories. I am not privy to the Democrats' private prayers, but I do hear the stories they're telling themselves. The new meme is that there's a civil war raging in the Republican Party. The Tea Party will wreck it from within and prove to be the Democrats' salvation.

The Economic Toll of the Obama Tax Hikes

In today's Wall Street Journal, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) identifies two justifications for his unequivocal opposition to any impending tax increases: "The first concerns the pain that tax increases threaten to inflict on our economy over the short term. The second is to stop the slide under our current leadership towards becoming a stagnant European-style welfare state with limited individual opportunity and entrepreneurship."

Constitution Day - Anyone Remember what this Document Is?

Sorry to sound hysterical with such a question though with the way the country is being run currently (& prior years) you'd have to wonder if the elected officials in charge (hired by our vote) have read the document lately.  When joining a new company, club or organization there are usually a set of policies or by-laws that have been formulated in order to explain how the group operates, what is accepted and what is not. God blessed our nation in it's founding period to have such a collection of wise men to create such a document for us...the US Constitution.   Have we being using it as it was intended, the supreme law of the land?

The Crash, Obama and the Disappearing Dem Majority

That electoral whirlwind is the talk of Washington today. Democrats rue their fate, a political future shaped by this economic storm. Yet they blamed the recession on the Republican Party. They pummeled John McCain with the crash. And that too is a political lesson of September 15. As a pol from last century, Dwight Morrow, said: "Any party which takes credit for the rain must not be surprised if its opponents blame it for the drought."

Hero - Soldier Who Risked Life to Save Another to be Awarded Medal of Honor

WASHINGTON -- A U.S. soldier who risked his life in Afghanistan in 2007 to save a wounded comrade from being captured by enemy forces will receive the Medal of Honor from President Obama, it was announced Friday.

Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta will be the first living person awarded the medal, the nation's top military honor, since the Vietnam War. The medal is given for the highest valor in combat.

Staff Sgt. Salvatore Giunta served in the Army as rifle team leader for the 2nd Battalion 503rd Infantry during combat operations in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley. The White House says Giunta went beyond the call of duty in October 2007 when he exposed himself to enemy fire to pull a comrade back to cover.

When he later noticed two insurgents carrying away another soldier, Giunta engaged the enemy, killing one and wounding the other before he rescued the soldier and tried to provide medical aid.

Neglecting Allies and Appeasing Foes

In yesterday’s New York Times, International Herald Tribune columnist Roger Cohen reported: “Since taking office, President Obama has reached out to the Muslim world as a whole, to China, to Turkey and to Iran, but has devoted scant serious diplomatic energy to Europe.” Cohen then went on to quote prominent Paris-based defense analyst Camille Grand: “Europe is the object of benign U.S. neglect. Obama has not established or re-established a strategic relationship with any single European country or with Europe as a whole.”
This analysis is dead on.

I'm Sorry Their Time has Passed.

Unions.....I understand representing worker's rights........back when there were issues like the late 19th and early 20th century but their time has passed.  Unions are nothing more than legal racketeers. Out with them, get the broom and start sweeping.  Read the below from the Heritage Foundation:

This Labor Day marks a milestone in the history of the U.S. union movement. It is the first Labor Day on which a majority of union members in United States work for the government. In January the Department of Labor reported that union membership in government has overtaken that in the private sector. Three times as many union members work in the Post Office as in the entire domestic auto industry. The face of the union movement is not a worker on the assembly line but a clerk at the DMV.

This is a dramatic shift for the union movement. The early trade unionists did not believe that unions had a place in government. They believed the purpose of unions was to redistribute business profits from owners to workers ... and the government makes no profits. Not until the 1960s did unionizing government employees become widespread. Now government employees make up 52 percent of all union members.
Illinois. Unions want state lawmakers to increase the state income tax from 3 percent to 5 percent and to expand the sales tax to cover some services. In April 2010 they organized rallies of government workers outside the state capitol shouting “Raise my taxes! Raise my taxes! Raise my taxes!” At that rally, a government union member was caught on camera chanting “Where’s the money?” and “Give up the bucks!”

Montana. The Montana teachers union openly sees itself as a supporter of tax and spend politics. Its President boasts, “Were it not for us almost any one of the … anti-tax and spend ballot issues proposed in the last 25 years would have passed.”
New Mexico. Unions lobbied the state’s legislature to raise taxes to deal with its budget deficit. The union got its wish, but it was not the wealthy who paid – the legislature imposed a 2 percent sales tax on food.
Washington state. Washington state has no income tax, and unions want to change that. They have placed an initiative on the November ballot creating a state income tax and are among the top donors to the campaign to pass it.

Morning Bell: Do You Wish You Could Choose Your Child’s Teacher?

Parents in Los Angeles are getting some new transparency about their children’s schools this week. The Los Angeles Times recently released the names of 6,000 elementary teachers and data showing how much each teacher’s students improved on standardized tests.

The strong message is that public schools and their teachers should be accountable to parents and other taxpayers. That’s a stark contrast to the status quo, in which education policy is most responsive to decisions of those who hold the government purse strings and the power of union collective bargaining.

The L.A. Times’ release of the evaluation data has education unions fuming. Their ostensible criticism is that the method used to compare the scores is questionable. But their historical reluctance to embrace accountability to parents belies other motives.

Measures like those in L.A. that increase transparency and accountability to parents are positive developments and welcome alternatives to initiatives like the national standards that the Obama administration is promoting. With hardly any public debate, states are signing on to the plan that will make schools more accountable to bureaucrats in Washington, and decrease their responsiveness to the parents whose children they teach.

Cantor: Beware of the Obama tax increases

By Eric Cantor

Listening to the Democrats this summer, you're unlikely to hear about an impending tax increase. In an effort to sanitize their historically irresponsible decision to raise tax rates in the midst of a struggling economy, President Obama and the congressional majority say they are merely "allowing the Bush tax cuts" to expire.

Go Joe Go!!!!!!

In a major upset, Sen. Lisa Murkowski conceded her GOP Senate primary race Tuesday night to Tea Party Express favorite Joe Miller.
Miller, who had the backing of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is now the immediate front-runner in the heavily Republican state.
"Now is the time for all Alaskans to come together and reach out with our core message of taking power from the federal government and bringing it back home to the people. If we continue to allow the federal government to live beyond its means, we will all soon have to live below ours," he said in a statement.

An Important new documentary film coming out soon!

There's an important new documentary film coming out soon that we had to tell you about.
Called I Want Your Money, it's a no-holds-barred critique of the over-reaching nature of the federal government under the Obama Administration and the current Congress.
Combining in-depth interviews (there's one with Newt), fiery criticism and politically-charged animated sequences, it tells the story in the plainest terms of the choice between the Obama and Reagan views of the role of the federal government in our society. It also examines how big government programs have been tried in the past at great moral and financial cost to the nation.

Surprise, Surprise...Obama appoints radical

If you don't read Investor's Business Daily, you probably missed this. It is reprinted from IBD's Issues and Insights page Monday August 23.
Barack Obama hit a new low in using a recess appointment to name Maria del Carmen Aponte as U.S. envoy to El Salvador. Dismissing three congressional holds on Aponte's confirmation, Obama used his vacation to slip Aponte through without a vote in Congress which is in recess.
Aponte's past is one big red flag. From 1982 to 1994 she lived with a man who worked closely with the Cuban Mission to the U.N. and was allegedly a spy. The FBI spotted this problem in Aponte's resume in 1994 when she made conflicting statements to investigators. As a result, she withdrew her nomination as ambassador to the Dominican Republic during the Clinton administration.
One thing is likely: Obama wants her there for something important, or he wouldn't have rammed through the appointment. With El Salvador the second-biggest source of illegal immigrants to the U.S., she may be there to help facilitate Obama's amnesty plans and create a Democrat voting bloc there. If so, U.S. voters won't know because she slipped scrutiny.
As with Van Jones, Obama shoved her through on a recess appointment because she probably wouldn't have been confirmed otherwise. That's how an activist with questionable ties became U.S. envoy to a key nation.
