“Nanny-ism,” Is Not in Our Nation’s DNA

Stimulus bills, Corporate bail-outs (TARP), government created (by the way non-productive) jobs have become the latest and greatest. Popular sentiment demands that when free market ups and downs become too down the elected representatives need to step in and maintain our status, livelihoods and well-being. This “Nanny-ism,” ensures their re-election and the population feels provided for. Provided for? When did we give up on self initiative, study, hard work and frugality as pre-requisites for success? Perhaps we gave up when it became easier not to do these things. When did we stake our national standard as lackards? John F. Kennedy did not address a nation of lackards when he stated, “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.. Each generation should look to ever higher goals than the previous generation accomplished. Government hand-outs retard our initiative, our growth and further drive us backwards. Our DNA is not comprised of such, we are not a Nanny state, it’s time to step up regain our drive, our initiative and commit to making ourselves better which will turn drive our nation to reach it’s potential.
