Tea Party Patriots!

Tea Party Patriots, an un-apathetic group, what we need more of!

Dear Friends and Citizens,

I would like to take the opportunity to recognize the Tea Party events and participants of such on Tax day April 15th 2009. Citizens came together across southeast Virginia, the state and the nation to voice their displeasure of government actions in regards to the “stimulus,” packages, bail outs and other runaway spending programs. These displeasures transcended party lines and reached into the hearts of every community. These Tea Parties were not protesting taxation without representation but displeasure and discontent with actions or lack of such by our elected representatives. People feel the government should try to make business climate receptive to the excelling of its citizens and not act as a wealth redistribution center.
Some news networks avoided coverage of these events as they did not fit their agendas or views and some even gave condescending remarks about the idiocy of such events. Certainly each of us is welcome to form our own opinions and my own is that there is nothing more America than voicing your own views publicly or privately without fear of retribution. In this case it was on the performance of our elected officials and as they work for us let’s ensure we hold them accountable. These persons participating in the Tea Parties rose above a problematic consciousness of our society today, apathy. Whether you agree or disagree with their views we all should recognize that becoming less apathetic and more involved, taking responsibility and not shirking it will improve many areas of our lives and nation.

Kind regards,

Jonathan Varnell
