Heritage experts have identified 23 policy areas of concern for candidates and Americans, Solutions for America. This guide offers clear policy recommendations on today’s most important issues. These recommendations include:

1. Federal Spending. Government spending is out of control—so much so that a new political movement, the tea party, has sprung up to rein it in. America has a spending problem, and Heritage has a solution. The majority of our spending growth is on entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid—to say nothing of Obamacare—and Heritage has created a series of recommendations that the new Congress should enact in order to correct the out of control spending that will tack on an additional trillion dollars to our national debt in the next decade.
2. Health Care. Heritage urges a total and immediate repeal of Obamacare, and this needs to be a top priority for the new Congress. But Congress shouldn’t stop there: Heritage supports free market solutions (link in PDF) as opposed to a big government takeover of one-sixth of the nation’s economy.
3. Government Regulations. The amount of government regulation in the past year has been unprecedented, costing taxpayers an additional $26.5 billion in 2010 alone. These costs will affect Americans in many ways. It will raise the price of the cars they buy and the food they eat, for example, while destroying an untold number of jobs. Worse, the amount of red tape is set to rise in the coming year. Congress must keep in mind that the more regulations placed on Americans, the more they are restricting their freedoms.
All of these recommendations have one thing in common – reducing the federal government’s involvement in our everyday lives.

Reports that the U.S. Air Force is considering a sole-source contract for a multi-billion dollar helicopter should make taxpayers queasy, and question who the Air Force has in its pocket. In fact, the basis of this math is the Economic Act of 1932.
Using the depression-era Economic Act of 1932 as a premise for a procurement is a desperate attempt at circumventing DoD’s initiatives about competition and could be a test case for avoiding competition for future defense procurement. CAGW asks the Air Force to consider competition as a way to bring the best value to the government and the taxpayer.

Opportunity knocks for voters on Nov. 2

To the Editor:
“When opportunity knocks, open the door” is a widely known expression, and many times we do not realize that we have missed an opportunity until after the fact.
In less than a week in our 4th Congressional District of Virginia, and on a larger scale, our nation, we will have opportunity knocking on our door. The approaching elections represent such an opportunity as a starting point to improve our lives today.
The vote on the 4th District congressional representation is our local opportunity, though at the same time, we should pay close attention to what takes place in other parts of our nation as they will elect representatives who will make decisions that will affect us as well.
We may feel that politics is a distant subject from our daily lives, though would any community member feel the local mill closure as distant? Politicians have the power to issue new laws, new regulations and implement tax changes that do affect how small and large businesses plan for profitability and their future.
This November, open the door to the opportunities at hand and ensure that we put candidates in office who bring with them common sense, realistic initiatives, and best of all, a pro-business outlook that is the only way any government will ever assist in creating a single job.

Why did Bernie Madoff go to prison? To make it simple, he talked people into investing with him. Trouble was, he didn't invest their money. As time rolled on he simply took the money from the new investors to pay off the old investors. Finally there were too many old investors and not enough money from new investors coming in to keep the payments going.
Next thing you know Madoff is one of the most hated men in America and he is off to jail. Some of you know this. but not enough of you.
Madoff did to his investors what the government has been doing to us for over 70 years with Social Security. There is no meaningful difference between the two schemes, except that one was operated by a private individual who is now in jail, and the other is operated by politicians who enjoy perks, privileges and status in spite of their actions.

With the media sneering about the Tea Party candidates being a bunch of nuts, how about we take a look at some of the Democrats running this year?
We've got Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank, who personally presided over the housing crash after getting that gay prostitution business behind him. Of course, Frank's actions are nothing compared to Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul's alleged participation in a college prank. Now, THERE'S a scandal!
California Sen. Barbara Boxer refuses to say whether a newborn baby is a human life. When Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Penn., asked her on the Senate floor a few years ago whether she believed a baby born alive has a constitutionally protected a right to live, Boxer was stuck for an answer. Her nonresponsive replies included these:
"I support the Roe v. Wade decision. ...
"I think when you bring your baby home, when your baby is born -- and the baby belongs to your family and has all the rights. ...
"Define 'separation' ...
"You mean the baby has been birthed and is now in its mother's arms? ...

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Like his neighbors, Claude Rwaganje pays taxes on his income and taxes on his cars. His children have gone to Portland's public schools. He's interested in the workings of Maine's largest city, which he has called home for 13 years.
Opponents of the measure say immigrants already have an avenue to cast ballots — by becoming citizens. Allowing noncitizens to vote dilutes the meaning of citizenship, they say, adding that it could lead to fraud and unfairly sway elections. - I AGREE

President Obama has come up with something new, something less common, something more befitting his stature and intellect. He's now offering a scientific, indeed neurological, explanation for his current political troubles. The electorate apparently is deranged by its anxieties and fears to the point where it can't think straight. Part of the reason "facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time," he explained to a Massachusetts audience, "is because we're hard-wired not to always think clearly when we're scared. And the country is scared."
Opening a whole new branch of cognitive science -- liberal psychology -- Obama has discovered a new principle: The fearful brain is hard-wired to act befuddled, i.e., vote Republican.

The A in English Award

Congressman Forbes was recently presented with the “A in English” award for his efforts in the 111th Congress to make English the official language of the United States. The “A in English” award is presented by U.S. English, Inc., the nation’s oldest, largest citizens’ action group dedicated to preserving the unifying role of the English language in the United States.

“The ability to communicate in one standard language in the workforce, in our schools, and in official functions and ceremonies builds unity among citizens and creates a sense of national pride,” said Forbes. “Requiring the use of English doesn’t mean we are any less tolerant of other languages spoken in the United States – it simply means that we want to create an environment where citizens can communicate properly with others in their daily activities. Declaring English as the official language of the United States is an important step in reaching that goal.”
“I am pleased to present this award to Rep. Forbes for his efforts to unite our diverse nation under the common language of English,” said Mauro E. Mujica, Chairman of the Board of U.S. English, Inc. “At a time when there is renewed interest toward preserving what unites us as a nation, we are grateful to Rep. Forbes for his dedicated and enthusiastic support of this issue.”

Fannie, Freddie bailout could nearly double in size

The federal bailout for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could nearly double in size during the next three years, according to projections from the companies' federal regulator.

Fannie and Freddie, the federally controlled mortgage finance giants, will need as much as $215 billion more from taxpayers in the next three years to meet their financial obligations, the Federal Housing Finance Agency said Thursday, but much of that money would automatically be returned to the government.

The growing taxpayer infusions will cover losses Fannie and Freddie suffer on home loans, as well as payments the companies must make to the U.S. Treasury in exchange for a federal guarantee to provide cash to keep the companies solvent.

Obama spending stimulates the national debt by $3,039,000,000,000

No wonder the president's wife is passing the hat to his supporters asking for $3 campaign donations. Have you seen the size of the national debt? It's a new record.
The United States of America now owes someone(s) $13,665,000,000,000.By 2012, when Hillary Clinton next challenges Barack Obama for their party's presidential nomination, the national debt will be even larger than today's record -- $16,500,000,000,000, according to current federal estimates. That's more money than the entire United States economy produces in a complete year.
That's also way more money than either Obama or Clinton spent to win the Democratic nomination in 2008.
This stunning debt news comes to us courtesy of Mark Knoller of CBS News, who is the White House press corps' chief cruncher of all things numbers.
Knoller has also figured out that during Obama's presidential watch, the....
...national debt has increased by $3,039,000,000,000, as in, that much more than it was when he took the oath on Jan. 20, 2009, in front of millions of excited witnesses and Aretha Franklin's huge hat.
Obama prefers to lay the blame or credit for this gargantuan spending increase at the cowboy-booted feet of his Lone Star Republican predecessor. During George W. Bush's Oval Office tenure, the national debt increased more -- by $4.9 trillion, in fact.
However, Bush took 96 months to do that.
Obama has accomplished his spending feat in less than 21 months. Under his spendership the national debt has grown about $4.8 billion every day since he took the oath of office twice, just to be safe.
Just imagine the dough Obama could push out the door given another two years of partnership with Democratic congressional leaders like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
Those Democrat majorities controlling Congress since 2007 didn't have time to get around to passing a federal budget this fiscal year, what with all the additional spending measures and recesses and necessary campaigning and all.

But according to polls in recent months, the federal debt and spending deficit have emerged as major concerns of American voters, who have this silly idea from their own lives that spending ought to be more in line with available resources. They may have something to say about this on Nov. 2.
The ongoing gap -- or, more accurately, chasm -- between federal in-come and out-go is a major reason why Obama says he opposes a continuation of tax cuts for what he considers wealthy Americans. He wants that tax money coming in to help cover spending.
Not much talk yet about cutting that spending.
But maybe that subject will come up now and then when the newer members of Congress convene in January.

Recently there was a billboard placed in (I believe) Colorado depicting Obama as many things (A Terrorist, A Pimp, A Mexican Poncho Villa-type dude, and something else-I'm not sure what but not pleasant).  And more recently this billboard was taken down after the owner of the billboard received death threats.  Death threats?  In America, land of freedom, where you can do and say what you believe WITHOUT fear of persecution and equal protection under the law(?).  We need to remember that we are a nation of laws as per our constitution and not a nation governed on the whims of emotion of men.  All too often we see more and more of such whether it concerns religion or political matters and the person/s (who supposedly offended) go into hiding out of fear for their lives.  Where are the journalist on THIS story?  It seems what can be poor taste today maybe fashion tomorrow.  Who decides which is what and who should be chastised.  Ignorant, stupid, offending it may be but underneath it all it is their freedom to say such.  With such in mind I would like to share this billboard photo on this site and hope many of you will copy such and send by mail to everyone you know.......that is if you consider this a freedom.

Our Founding Fathers knew that overwhelming national debt would undermine the ability of our nation to act in our own interest. Today, our national debt levels are impacting us here at home and they are impacting us globally. We need a mechanism in place to force Congress to enact fiscally responsible spending measures and rein in out-of-control debt.
I am a cosponsor of H.J.RES.1, a Balanced Budget Amendment, which will force Congress to enact fiscally responsible spending measures, reduce the deficit, and ensure that the money our citizens work so hard to earn is not spent on wasteful spending and programs. The bill requires that Congress not spend more than it receives in revenues, requires the President to submit a balanced budget to Congress, and requires a 3/5 majority vote to increase the debt limit.
A Constitutional amendment will force Congress to eliminate unnecessary and wasteful spending and make the decisions necessary to balance the budget and eliminate the federal deficit.

1. (Reuters) - U.S. states can proceed with a lawsuit seeking to overturn President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare reform law, a Florida judge ruled Thursday.

According to sources who watch the inner workings of the federal government,a smackdown of Barack Obama by the U.S. Supreme Court may be inevitable.Ever since Obama assumed the office of President, critics have hammered him on a number of Constitutional issues.Critics have complained that much, if not all of Obama's major initiatives run headlong into Constitutional roadblocks on the power of the federal government.

3. According to The New York Times, the Tea Party has "a good chance of establishing a sizeable caucus to push its agenda in the House and the Senate."

4. The Tea Party Is Here to Stay
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) write in today’s Politico:

Next Monday, October 18th, the summary judgment hearing will be held in Richmond to decide the fate of the individual mandate contained in the recent healthcare bill. I know many of you have been tuning in to this case since it began over six months ago, and now we are 7 days away from the trial date in the first round of this case. So - today I just wanted to give you all a rundown of where we're at and what to expect. Also, at the end of this email, I've included a few thoughts about last weekend's Tea Party Convention.

So, what will happen next Monday?
Now that we've gotten past the motion to dismiss, next Monday both sides will get down to the merits of the case. In open court - both sides will debate the constitutionality of the individual mandate.

No Proposals?

Like most statements they udder this is clearly not true.  Rep. Forbes of 4th District Va (R). has listed the following as a good start.....

1. Make tax cuts permanent
2. Decrease burdensome regulations on small businesses
3. Lower the debt
4. Develop lasting energy solutions
5. Enforce Immigration Laws

We cannot borrow and spend our way back to a growing economy. Real economic growth comes from generating income for American families, and income comes from increasing commerce and growing jobs. When our nation’s small businesses – who employ half of our nation’s private work force – are not hiring, it impedes economic growth. Washington needs to abandon deficit spending and stimulus quick-fixes and instead return to economic principles that promote recovery and encourage the creation of much-needed new jobs.

Sumo wrestling with federal deficits

Rep. Jeb Hensarling, the four-term Texas Republican, hopes it is true that, as has been said, Americans invariably do the right thing -- after exhausting all the alternatives. Regarding the fiscal imbalance that is driving the national debt toward 90 percent of gross domestic product, Americans are running out of alternatives.
Remember, deficits are supposed to add $8.5 trillion to the nation's debt in this decade. This is the plan -- based on an optimistic assumption of 10 years of 3.4 percent economic growth. This year's second-quarter growth rate was half that -- 1.7 percent.
President Obama established the 18-member National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, on which Hensarling serves, with, he says, "high hopes and low expectations." Thus far, Hensarling doubts that the commission is a "stalking horse for a VAT" -- a value-added tax, essentially a national sales tax. He is, however, agnostic about whether the president's purpose in creating the commission was to enable Democrats to tiptoe past next month's elections without talking about deficits.

Is the Obama DOJ Committed to Race Neutral Law Enforcement?
On May 14, 2010, Department of Justice Civil Rights Division Assistant Attorney General Thomas E. Perez testified before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights about the DOJ’s decision to completely drop charges against the New Black Panther Party and two of its members for alleged voter intimidation in violation of the 1964 Voting Rights Act. Perez was also questioned about the department’s decision to seek only narrow injunctive relief against a third defendant who wielded a billy club at the polls on Election Day 2008. After his prepared remarks, Commissioner Todd Gaziano (who is also the Director of the Center for Legal & Judicial Studies at The Heritage Foundation) asked Perez: “Do you agree that the voting rights laws should always be enforced in a race-neutral manner?” Perez responded: “Yes, sir.”
