Dear American Energy Advocate,
As you may have heard, the anti-energy advocates in Congress have temporarily suspended their plans to pass a cap and trade national energy tax. These politicians have spent years repackaging, renaming, and rebranding their programs, making backroom deals and twisting arms, and fighting the wishes of the American people. Today we dealt them a major setback. The most important lesson to be learned? Never underestimate the American people. No matter how many times Congress gave this plan an extreme makeover—from cap-and-trade to carbon pricing to carbon caps—you knew the truth: it is nothing more than a national energy tax.
And, thanks to you, the national energy tax is dead...for now. We at the American Energy Alliance are grateful to you for making your voice heard and joining our fight to defeat this harmful policy.
While we celebrate today, it is important to remember that as long as there are policymakers, anti-energy advocates, and legislators who want to use energy rationing to damage the American way of life, our fight continues. We expect the Obama Administration will respond to Congress’ defeat by directing the EPA to redouble its efforts to regulate our energy. And when that—or any other threat—emerges, we’ll be ready. And we’ll need your help.
Thank you for helping us successfully put the brakes on cap-and-trade. The fight isn’t over, but the momentum is moving in our direction!
